Kentucky Gives Day is an annual day of online giving that brings together charities and Kentuckians, near and far for a powerful day of action and philanthropy.
We appreciate your help in sharing our message on social media during this day of giving. Below are images and sample text for Facebook, Instagram. Facebook images are sized for sharing on your timeline. Instagram images are similar, but have been redesigned specifically for Instagram’s newsfeed (square). LinkedIn uses images very close to Facebook so you can use this same download. Twitter / X remarkably also uses the same size image as Facebook.
Downloads for text are *.txt files. The links will be live, but you will have to add “@” and retype the name(s) to tag ACCA’s or Hidden River Cave’s Facebook pages. You can also copy and paste text directly from the page below. Please feel free to personalize.

• Caves are Delicate Ecosystems: Caves are home to rare and endangered species found nowhere else on Earth. These beautiful underground environments, shaped over thousands of years, can be irreparably damaged in seconds by a single careless action. Protecting caves means preserving their unique ecosystems and irreplaceable formations.
• Caves are Living History: Caves preserve remarkable stories from the past due to their cool, constant temperatures. Ancient footprints, like those discovered in a Tennessee cave over 4,500 years old, remain intact in the soft cave mud. Caves also house prehistoric artwork and artifacts, offering valuable insights into how ancient cultures may have used these hidden spaces.
• Education is the Key: Educating the public about caves fosters a deeper understanding of their importance and encourages responsible stewardship. Your support sustains our educational programs, which spark curiosity and appreciation for the fascinating underground world.
• Supporting Conservation and Community: Your contributions help us clean up sinkholes and illegal dumps, maintaining programs that benefit both caves and our local communities.
• Helping ACCA Recover from Flooding: In early April, Hidden River Cave experienced the most severe flood event in over 50 years, forcing a closure during the crucial spring break season. This unexpected disruption led to a significant revenue shortfall, directly affecting our conservation and education programs. While the cave has reopened, ongoing repairs to the lighting system and tour infrastructure are still needed

Caves are home to countless unique animals, including many threatened and endangered species. Some, like bats, use caves as nurseries or hibernation sites, while others, like the blind cavefish, spend their entire lives underground. These animals depend on a clean, protected environment. Just like the canary in the coal mine, the loss of cave animals can be a warning sign of environmental danger for us all.
